AIDER-ASBL is a Congolese development and humanitarian organization committed to recreating the best possible living conditions for populations living in environments affected by various crises.

WHO WE ARE

A National Organization Driven by People, Resilience and Sustainable Development

AIDER-ASBL is a national development and humanitarian action NGO legally established in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Established in 2002 in Dungu, Haut-Uélé Province, the organization has more than two decades of experience working to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations and communities affected by crises.

Our approach combines sustainable development, humanitarian action, community participation, technical expertise and data-driven decision-making. We work alongside communities, public institutions, local organizations, donors and international partners to develop solutions adapted to local realities.

AIDER-ASBL brings together multidisciplinary expertise in areas including sustainable agriculture, humanitarian action, health and WASH, food security and nutrition, protection, gender-based violence, infrastructure reconstruction, humanitarian coordination, biodiversity and community resilience.

OUR HISTORY

More Than Two Decades of Reconstruction and Community Action

Since its establishment in Dungu in 2002, AIDER-ASBL has progressively developed its operational capacity, expanded its geographic presence and strengthened its partnerships while responding to the evolving needs of communities across the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Foundation

AIDER-ASBL was established in Dungu, Haut-Uélé, by Pastor François Mbolihinihe Likoyo.

2005

Community Development

Development of an alluvial water source in Kiliwa, in partnership with African Parks Foundation.

2008–2011

Infrastructure & Roads

Rehabilitation of major road networks using labor-intensive methods (HIMO), including the Dungu–Ndedu, Dungu–Doruma and Dungu–Bitima roads, while expanding operational capacity.

2013–2018

Humanitarian Expansion

Expansion of humanitarian interventions covering GBV, population movements, food assistance, health, infrastructure and capacity building, alongside expansion into Maniema Province.

2020–2024

Sustainable Development

Launch of integrated rice and fish farming, youth entrepreneurship, and the Yenge beekeeping project, strengthening AIDER-ASBL's focus on sustainable livelihoods.

2025

Multisectoral Humanitarian Action

Implementation of the Lusangi humanitarian response and the Durba agro-aquaculture project, combining humanitarian assistance with sustainable economic development.

2025

A New Chapter

New legal recognition, expansion into South Kivu, and launch of the Garamba Complex Safeguarding Project, marking a new phase of national growth.
